Grant programme for 2024 is now closed and will re-open in January 2025

Eligibility

Please see below our eligibility criteria for organisations wishing to make an application. An organisation must be a charity or a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission. We will check your entry on the Charity Commission website to ascertain whether you are a local or a national organisation. If your entry states that you operate throughout England and Wales then you will be treated as a national charity, regardless of any projects undertaken in London.

To avoid disappointment, we advise you to check your entry on the Charity Commission website before making an application.

Who can apply

Who is eligible

  • Registered local charities and charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) based in the London Borough of Westminster or neighbouring boroughs that deliver services directly to beneficiaries in Westminster.

Who is not eligible

  • National charities that operate throughout England and Wales (even if the main area of operation is London);
  • Organisations that make their own grants;
  • Organisations that run a commercial business as their primary objective, but also have charitable status e.g. theatres, art galleries and museums aimed at the paying public;
  • Institutions of high education.

What we fund

Funding is available for the following areas:

  • Addiction
  • Children and youth
  • Community
  • The elderly
  • Health and disability
  • Homelessness

Grants are available for:

  • Specific capital costs
  • Revenue funding (including core costs)
  • Specific project/service costs

The main criterion is that the project or service you seek funding for must aim to benefit a significant number of needy Westminster residents.

It is a requirement of the Charity that you enable one of our representatives to visit the activity/project and that you provide a report to confirm how the grant was used.

Westminster Amalgamated Charity awards one-off grants only and does not award recurring grants. A fresh application will need to be submitted for each request.

How to apply

Privacy Policy

The Charity cannot respond to general letters of appeal - you must make a direct application using the online form below.

If you are a new applicant, it will be necessary to meet with you before any application can be submitted to Trustees.

We recommend you submit your application in plenty of time. Applications arriving just before or on the deadline date run the risk of being deferred to the next meeting, as there will be insufficient time to resolve any queries.

If your application is successful, you will be required to send us a monitoring report once the project has finished. In any case, a report must be sent to us before making a further application. You are welcome to attach it in the application form below. If no monitoring report has been received prior to reapplying or attached with the form, we regret that we cannot accept your application.

Our new database is now live and the Application Form can be accessed via the button below. You will need to register before making an application.

If you have any queries relating to applications, please email wac@3chars.org.uk
